Poems and stuff by Maté Jarai…

…treasure hunting

Found half of a bone jaw

found the other half nearby

put them face to face in the dirt

‘Dinosaur bones,’ I said

knowing they were not.

The mountains were hot

there was snow.

Thought I saw your hands

dragging at the water

in the lake.

Heard a bear

and grinned

while feeling afraid.

It was thunder

they were my hands

the snow was ash

the skull was a bird’s

and then the

winds changed.
